Out in the Open — Remarks on the Trump Election

Bureau of public secrets. November 16, 2016

The Donald Trump campaign has exposed some very ugly aspects of American society. They’re not pretty to look at, but it’s probably better that they’re out there in the open where we can all see them and no one can deny them. It has also revealed some genuine grievances that had been ignored, and it’s good that those too are now out in the open.

The weather is changing, time to get out and about. Come and help our brothers and sisters to build their bothy in the Concrete Community Garden, Possil. We want to finish it for our busy summer activities. If you have some time pop in. No experience necessary – but if you have all the better. Banter is passable, good crack, and the food is good. We will even pay your bus fare and you will learn something. Hod me back!

Preparing The Path – Event 7th Feb

path-smallAfter a well attended “Farmhouse Town Hall” meeting the general feeling was to start looking at doing some concrete activities

Preparing The Path – Event
Community Garden visit 11:00 Plantation lunch and discussion 1:00 (Click image for details)

Preparing the path, meet-up will consist of a garden visit to look at building, a local walk and talk. Then. Next step conversations at Plantation Productions meeting space. Take a look at the physical space of the site, make some notes and look at a strategy for proceeding and formulating some ideas to get going.

For instance

We need a team in to clear space to set up a container workshop; to be kitted out as a learning pod, in which an organised program of activities could be put together.

So we need to put a shipping container in garden to function as a work space, meeting space and fit it with tools and equipment to suit a variety of activities. A place where groups and individuals could, meet, do workshops, and learn about a whole bunch of things.

Set up cargo bike, from (Free Wheel North) as traveling information centre, we can take to schools, events, groups, etc.

Set up Local building group – to connect with other projects. Organise workshops in basic building skills

Start off our Participatory Action Research project and media group. Make programs and updates for Sunny Govan Radio.

Look at the “Well Said” project at plantation who will be filming Farmhouse activities and training people up in media skills.

Putting together presentations to further education departments for student field work to support different aspects of the project.

A schools Common Good Fund information pack to engage children in understanding what the commons is.

These are a few of the ideas we could talk about but it is important that folk feel that they can contribute their own ideas. What will be important is, how we will proceed to do things in the right order and how we go about building capacity for the tasks at hand.

We look forward to seeing you. Project Development Team

farm-youtube Idea:
